Son of Babylon
Multi-talented Iraqi filmmaker Mohamed Al Daradji wrote, directed, produced and did the cinematography on this drama about a little boy and his grandmother set out in search for his father. Set after the fall of Saddam, an elderly woman hears that her son's captured at the Nasiriyah prison and set out to find him with her grandson. A perilous journey shows the devastation on the country and people torn by war and seem to worse than before the US brought down the regime. There are some obvious flaws in the writing but it's a compelling story from the Iraqi perspective that needs to be told. YRCinema's coverage of the San Francisco International Film Festival.
