A League of their Own
Director Penny Marshall brought the untold story of the All-American Girls Baseball League to screen with a perfect blend of comedy and drama. During the second world war, women were recruited to play baseball while the men were away at war. Marshall assembled a great ensemble to pay tribute to those pioneer women that proved women could excel if given a chance. While Tom Hanks and Geena Davis shine with their terrific performances, Marshall made us great use of Madonna who provides welcome comic relief with Rosie O'Donnell along the rest of the talented cast.
