Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris took their time for the follow up of their hit comedy "Little Miss Sunshine" with this romantic comedy. A young writer struggling with writer's block meets the woman of his dreams but the only problem is that she's a fiction of his imagination. Dayton and Faris deliver a funny and romantic film that's written by the lead actress, Zoe Kazan, who delivers a solid performance along with her real life partner, Paul Dano in the male lead. The only problem with the story and film is its pretentiousness which it could have done without it and still kept it whimsical story intact like the director's debut film. The eclectic supporting cast includes Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas, Chris Messina, Elliott Gould and Steve Coogan is all over with their performance which reflects the problem of the film. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
