Something in the Air

Acclaimed French writer and director Olivier Assayas returns with another drama which is more personal due to autobiographical elements that inspired it. After the turbulent events of May, 1968, a group of young students continue to defy the authorities with their rebellious acts which adds to their confusion while discovering themselves. Assayas demystifies the era by going back shows how a generation was carried away by the force of the political climate that was a volatile period in modern French history. Due to its semi-autobiographical elements, Assayas hits the right notes with this coming of age drama where love, art and politics clash with each other. Newcomer Clément Métayer makes his feature with a solid performance along with Lola Créton, Felix Armand and Carole Combes amongst others. 1001 Films' coverage of the 56th San Francisco International Film Festival.
