Albert Nobbs

Actress Glenn Close turned writer and producer to make this film happen and get director Rodrigo García to deliver another keenly observed film. The tragic story of woman who poses as man to make a living while being trapped in a life void of love and emotion. It's a bleak character study that's fascinating due to its time period which has been brought to life by a talented cast and crew. Close delivered her best role in ages that proves she can deliver a knockout given the right role which also true for Janet McTeer who also shines in a similar but different role. The solid supporting cast includes Mia Wasikowska, Aaron Johnson, Pauline Collins, Brendan Gleeson, Brenda Fricker and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
