Shadow Dancer

British director James Marsh returns with another taut thriller set in the last days of the IRA conflict in Northern Ireland. A young Irish woman is caught between the IRA and MI5 which puts her and her family in danger as the two sides fight a vicious war at the cost of innocent lives. Writer Tom Bradby adapted his own novel that shows the high stakes of families caught in the crossfire for decades before the conflict ended. Marsh's precise direction and strong performances make this psychological thriller stand out. Clive Owen and Andrea Riseborough star with nuanced performances along with a talented supporting cast that includes Gillian Anderson and Aidan Gillen. 1001 Films' coverage of the 65th Festival de Cannes.
