Straw Dogs

Writer and director Rod Lurie's remake of the Sam Peckinpah film is another pointless effort. A Hollywood writer relocates with his wife to her hometown in the South where they are confronted by hostile locals. Lurie changed the location from England to the US and adds an heavy dose of violence but otherwise doesn't bring anything new except more of cliches and stereotypes. James Marsden and Kate Bosworth star but Swedish actor Alexander SkarsgÄrd makes an impression as the menacing former redneck boyfriend. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
