Farewell

French writer and director Christian Carion made a terrific thriller with his third feature based on an incredible true story. An ordinary Frenchman in Moscow gets entangled in one of the biggest spy cases of the Cold War involving a high ranking KGB officer that puts their lives in danger but changed the course of history leading to the fall of the Soviet Union. Carion weaves an intricate story that builds slowly but reaches a riveting climax proves he's one of the most versatile French directors. Serbian director/actor Emir Kusturica and French actor/director Guillaume Canet are perfectly cast as the leads with superb performances leading an international cast including Alexandra Maria Lara, Willem Dafoe, Niels Arestrup, Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Dina Korzun and Fred Ward amongst others. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
