Bonsai
Chilean writer and director Cristian Jimenez delivers a deadpan romantic comedy with his clever sophomore film. A wannabe writer reflects on his best years in life when he met and lost the love of his life. Jimenez cleverly plays his audience and is always a step ahead as he unravels the story where nothing is as it seems. Jimenez gives away even the ending of the film at the beginning which starts the ride and makes the film a worthy one. There's parallels on art, literature and memory when it comes to love in cinema. The talented cast includes Diego Noguera and Nathalia Galgani in the leads. 1001-Films coverage of the 64th Festival de Cannes.
