Miss Bala
Mexican writer and director Gerardo Naranjo delivers a powerful film on the drug war through a victim. A beautiful girl dreaming of becoming a beauty pageant gets sucked in the middle of the drug war that has ravaged Mexico where innocent people have become collateral damage. Naranjo takes an unflinching look through an innocent bystander who has no control as she's used and abused by both sides. Naranjo continues to carry the torch for Mexican cinema with another superb film. Stephanie Sigman makes a strong impression as the beauty caught among the beasts. 1001-Films coverage of the 64th Festival de Cannes.
