Sleeping Beauty
Australian novelist Julia Leigh made her writing and directing debut with this existential fairy tale. A young female student detached from reality gets lured into a mysterious world of prostitution. While Leigh has a strong visual sense, the story lacks the necessary character development and fails to provide any psychological or emotional context which derails the film. Up and coming Australian actress Emily Browning leads the unknown cast. 1001-Films coverage of the 64th Festival de Cannes.
