Martha Marcy May Marlene
Writer and director Sean Durkin makes his feature debut with this character study of a young woman transformation. After escaping a sinister cult, a young woman finds it difficult to adjust to reality much to the dismay of her sister. Durkin's impressive debut digs into the psychology of a young mind. Elizabeth Olsen gives a strong and nuanced performance in her first lead with stellar support by John Hawkes, Sarah Paulson and Hugh Dancy. 1001-Films coverage of the 64th Festival de Cannes.
