Le Havre
Finnish writer and director Aki Kaurismäki returns with another off beat comedy. A shoeshiner gets involved to help an illegal African boy while his wife suffers from a terminal disease. Kaurismäki, a master of stylized dead-pan comedy achieves new heights with his most political film that also pays homage to French cinema. French actors André Wilms and Jean-Pierre Darroussin join Kaurismäki regular Kati Outinen with solid performances. 1001-Films coverage of the 64th Festival de Cannes.
