Iranian master Abbas Kiarostami makes his first film outside of his country with this valentine to art and Italy. The story about an English writer who's promoting his book in Italy and spends a day with a French gallery owner as they discuss life and its relationship to art. In a rare move Kiarostami works with a famous actress such as Juliette Binoche who delivers as usual another brilliant performance while opera singer William Shimell and writer Jean-Claude Carrière play the supporting roles. Kiarostami stays true to his reputation as the consummate artist by making a film about art in one of its epicenters which is Italy. While the film is mostly the interaction between and a man and a woman, it always remains interesting and intriguing as the couple discuss art and life which should find interest world wide. YRCinema's coverage of films at the 63rd Festival de Cannes.
