Heartbeats

The talented Canadian writer, director and actor Xavier Dolan hits the right notes with this stylish film about two friends falling for a mutual friend. Best friends Francis and Marie develop a crush on Nicolas, the new boy in town and start woo him that causes a rivalry that threatens their friendship. It's a film about crushes and imaginary loves that's the cause of most teenage heartaches and enemy of friendship. Dolan shows a lot of depth by channeling creative style clearly inspired by Pedro Almodovar, Gus Van Sant and Wong Kar Wai amongst others to make his own.
