Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

After several failed attempts to reclaim his status as one of the most prolific filmmakers of the 80's, Oliver Stone revisits one of his acclaimed films of that decade to comment on global financial crisis that started with the crumbling of Wall Street. In this sequel, disgraced tycoon Gordon Gekko returns to Wall Street to reclaim his status through the fiancee of his estranged daughter. There are some moments that justifies this delayed sequel but otherwise nothing new is served. Michael Douglas gets to creep back into one of his iconic performances that should raise the interest in the film along with other strong performances from the solid cast that includes youngsters Carey Mulligan, Shia LaBeouf and veterans Frank Langella, Eli Wallach and Josh Brolin. The cinematography by Rodrigo Prieto is outstanding as usual. YRCinema's coverage of the the 63rd Festival de Cannes.
