Leaving

French writer and director Catherine Corsini explores "L'Amour fou" or mad love again in this drama. A middle-aged married woman, who seems to have everything in life including a loving family, throws everything away when she falls in love with a Spanish handyman which has tragic consequences. Corsini had the good sense to have a terrific cast with Kristin Scott Thomas, Sergi López and Yvan Attal who almost manage to save the film despite a weak screenplay. This story has been treated many times before in the French cinema including the much superior Trauffaut's "The Woman Next Door" whose score Corsini uses as an homage. The magnificent Kristin Scott Thomas is one of the few actresses like Charlotte Rampling and Juliette Binoche whose bilingual skills allows her to find interesting roles outside Hollywood.
