Polisse

French actress turned writer and director Maïwenn delivers her best work to date with this drama. A photo journalist is assigned to cover a group of Parisian child protection services where she witnesses how their work affect them personally. Maïwenn proves she has what it takes to be a director. Her documentary style fits the compelling story and characters. Aware of the dark subject matter infused it with a great deal of humor and comic relief to strike a balance. The terrific ensemble includes Karin Viard, Frédéric Pierrot, Joey Starr, Marina Foïs, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Karole Rocher, Emmanuelle Bercot and director herself amongst others. 1001-Films' coverage of the 64th Festival de Cannes.
