German writer and director Andreas Dresen returns with an unflinching look at death with grim drama. A happily married man with loving children finds out he has brain cancer with only a brief time to live. Dresen starts the film with the diagnosis and ends with the death that shows the family gradual dealing and preparing for the inevitable. It's a heart breaking story with a solid cast and crew. However it's grim topic and difficult to watch regardless how well it's made. 1001-Films coverage of the 64th Festival de Cannes.
