The Disenchanted
French writer and director Benoît Jacquot made this character study of a Parisian girl. A teenage girl's quarrel with her boyfriend makes her realize the harsh realities of life. Jacquot who made a career out of focusing on the ordinary details of daily life captures the spirit of the youth before adulthood. Even though the film's set in 1990, it feels older and a time capsule of a world that was changed forever with the arrival of cell phones and the Internet. Judith Godrèche stars with a solid performance. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
