Like Someone in Love
Iranian writer and director Abbas Kiarostami returns with a "Tokyo Story" in second feature outside of Iran. A young student's double life as an escort gets her in trouble when she's sent to a retired professor with unexpected consequences. While the film lacks the substance and power of his previous effort in Italy, Kiarostami shows that certain human interactions remain the same no matter where you are. It's minor effort for master filmmaker who has proven he could make a film anywhere and anytime. The cast and crew are solid as expected. 1001 Films' coverage of the 65th Festival de Cannes.
