Lawless
Australian director John Hillcoat's third collaboration with writer Nick Cave produces a recycled pastiche of Americana which has been done many times before in better films. During the Prohibition, a Virginia bootlegging gang of brothers find their business threatened when a new agent comes to town. Poorly written full of cliches and stereo types that relies heavily on its cast to deliver the goods with too many problems that derails the film. The talented cast of up and coming talent includes Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke and Dane DeHaan along with veterans like Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman and Noah Taylor. 1001 Films' coverage of the 65th Festival de Cannes.
