Director Cameron Crowe returned after a long absence with this feel-good family drama. After a tragedy, a single father attempts a new start by buying a struggling zoo. Based on the book by Benjamin Mee, Crowe and co-writer Aline Brosh McKenna changed the location from England to Los Angeles along with a heavy dose of Hollywood formula but the winning cast save the day. Matt Damon stars with another solid performance along with Scarlett Johansson in a charming performance which suits her well. The solid supporting cast includes Elle Fanning and Patrick Fugit who reunited with Crowe. 1001 Films' coverage of films on DVD.
